Ragdale Ring Competition

Share (A)round approaches the Ragdale Ring not as a single stage object, but as a reconfigurable field of modular elements that can support multiple forms of performance, gathering, rest, and informal occupation. Rather than pursuing permanence through fixed form, it embraces adaptability, reconfiguration, and reuse as core architectural values, allowing the space to respond to changing social rhythms, programs, and occupation durations. It simultaneously functions as performance infrastructure and everyday furniture.

Through modular elements that shift between performance support and everyday use, the architecture accommodates both curated events, ranging from music and spoken word to dance and rehearsal, as well as informal, unscripted acts such as sitting, resting, gathering, watching, or passing through. The system’s temporal flexibility allows it to host moments of intensity and spectacle while remaining active and meaningful during quieter intervals. Modules can be reshuffled and repositioned by users, allowing the stage to be collectively shaped in response to different performances and social configurations. Performance is thus understood broadly, not only as staged artistic production, but also as the everyday choreography of bodies, encounters, and routines that animate public space.
